Find a splendid way to get lost in the moment!

Today I Love…

Getting lost in the moment of drilling! What is your splendid way to get lost in the moment? Write it. Share it. Embrace it this next moment!

Today, I love drilling ivory. I love watching the beige tusk spin out from a millimeter of depth. How it rolls and collides in a dance of freedom. I love creating that freedom. And I love taking a deep inhale through my yellow mask, breathing in the burning ivory. I love the scent of burning ivory – like the gift of fresh-baked scone. And I love that the ivory burns less every day.

Today, I love remembering. I love wondering how it felt to first hold the drill. Not too long ago. The day when my hand first met metal. I remember, how I was so clumsy. And I love that I was so clumsy! My lines skidding into a path of improvement. I love that I can see such improvement.

Today, I love finding balance, my fingers resting steady, guiding my drill no deeper than dentin. I love the softness of dentin, and how I can create such precision with my hands. And I love that I now know where to place my fingers, when only two weeks ago, I did not. Today, I love learning, and I love how the challenge of the experience becomes just an afterthought.

Today, I love the serenity in the moments surrounding afterthoughts.

Today, I Love Contemplating Patience

Today, I Love April 20, 2017

A meditation inspired by Kelly Babcock and thishumanlifemanifested.blogspot.com.
Today, I love cool mornings. I love the damp look in the air and moist splash of the grass. I love watching the coolness from the my bedroom window, my legs tucked under the embrace of a yellow throw. I love the warmth of my yellow throw, and how only just recently I realized how much love there is in this world. With every person reaching to embrace. And every inanimate object personified to care. I love watching my inanimate world care, the mug just kind enough to hold the warm tea.

Today, I love cupping my fingers across my blue mug. Damp with heat. And holding them there. I love knowing my mug isn’t patient. It has no timeline. But it’s practical, and realistic. I love watching realism startle my nostrils with steam.

Today, I love contemplating patience. I love knowing that patience isn’t secrecy but tolerance – telling the truth, and holding it there. I love patiently holding the phone without words, just to say that “I miss you.” And I love that I can miss you, and go on. And I don’t have to even tell you; because you know. Today, I love how much you know. And I love how I still love you.

Awakening to Love

A beautiful blogger and inspiring friend began a practice of daily gratitude in the reflection of Kelly Babcock’s meditations. And did I mention the word ‘inspired’?!

We all experience so much business and busyness in our lives. Many of us live off a to-do list and a vision of the future. Eventually, we forget why we are still running!

So today, let’s remember. Today, let’s pause and put away the to-do list. Let’s appreciate what is beautiful in this very moment and let’s give the present its due time. Today, let’s follow the inspiring lead of a friend and a blogger, and let’s begin our own practice – however it seems fit for you – from a mindset of mindfulness and gratitude.

April 18, 2017*

Today, I love waking to the sleep in my eyes, letting it hold me in stillness for a second longer. I love stretching back my arms, and feeling my hand against the wall. I love the walls of my room, how softly they’re painted yellow. And how they turn and bend at the strangest of angles. I love lifting my head, and seeing the white of the fireplace. I love that the fireplace doesn’t work, but that it holds treasures – because I always forget what I throw in there. Today, I love feeling the cool hardwood against my toes, and feeling the cracks in the hundred year old floor. And I love how the cool floor brings out the warm kiss of the room. I love the humidity. I love how mother nature fights with my need to feel ‘pretty,’ just curling my hair to be ‘natural.’ I love turning back to the bed, and seeing the bedsheets slide off. But doing nothing about it. I love that they’ll wait tossled until I’m ready. Today, I love taking a bite of a bagel even though it’s still Passover. I love knowing that I don’t even have to think about the ‘rules’ anymore, that I only think about my health. I love that Judaism bows to my health. Today I love writing while contemplating comedy.

The Secret To Success (for now)

I had a Twitter friend reach out to ask how I do so many things at once?!  And the real answer is, I don’t!  I pick the items that are most important, the ones that are most recharging.  I pick the items that keep me moving, and I do just that: move forward.

Do you want to get in on this Twitter action?  Perhaps read the thoughts that don’t quite make the ‘I’ll-blog-about-that’ cut but are still worthy of a ‘shout-it-to-the-internet’ audience?  Follow me @Mirissa_D_Price!  I’d love to see you there ♥

Have You Danced Today?

I don’t always have the time or patience for a full meditation.  Especially when I am in the midst of a mid-morning commute!

But . . .

just-dance

I always have time to dance!

To one song.  In one minute.  On my walk to the car.  There is always a moment to put some joy in my step.  No question about it!

I do have one question remaining, though:

Have YOU danced today?
